Learning Outcome 5 & 6

With my Chosen Work Sample, my ability to properly cite sources and use MLA guidelines has improved. My writing has also improved in my skill to make local revisions to fix my errors. While making my rough draft I wanted to emphasize ensuring my citations and sources were following proper MLA format. When introducing a source I made sure that the author’s name was there to be consistent. I wanted to correct my previous mistakes during rough drafts of forgetting page numbers and authors last name after a quote. During local revision I wanted to improve my sentence flow and clarity to make my paper stronger. I revised my wordy or repetitive sentences so I could be concise. I wanted my paper to sound more smooth reworking sentences into two not just one, long, and wordy sentence. Additionally I wanted to pay close attention to transition between paragraphs to build on my ideas. My chosen work sample was my last project so most lessons on MLA format and local revisions were applied very successfully. The earlier projects and rough drafts I had struggled on my quote citations and local revisions. By Project 3, my chosen work sample, I felt much more confident in both my citations and the overall flow of my paper. Moving forward, I plan to continue addressing small mistakes earlier in the rough draft process rather than waiting until the final draft. Just as I did with my chosen work sample, I will keep applying these lessons on proofreading, local revision, and MLA formatting to make my future papers even stronger.
